What does the code "N84" indicate on a state of New Mexico driving record?
Vic from New Mexico asks: What does the code "N84" indicate on a state of New Mexico driving record? Next to my violation is says "N84" and someone told me that stands for careless or reckless driving but the offense was a logbook offense?
Hi Vic - I'm assuming by logbook, you must be talking about a driver with a CDL (commercial drivers license)?
I thoroughly searched the NM MVD website and could not find the code "N84", so I emailed the MVD and they sent me back a document with all possible violation codes listed, but I still didn't see an "N84" code. Please take a look for yourself, I have posted what they send me as a Word doc here: New Mexico Traffic Violation Codes
If that doesn't help, I would suggest calling them at :
NM Motor Vehicle Division
Michael Sandoval, Director | 827-2852 (SF)
Paul Montoya, Director Field Operations | 827-2771(SF)
Alicia Ortiz, Deputy Director Administration | 827-2269 (SF)
Hope that helps, best of luck to you Vic!

What is a Dram Shop and What Are Dram Driving Laws?
Billie somewhere in the United States asks: What does Dram Driving Law mean? Is there such a law?
Hello Billie, I have to admit this question was one of the stranger ones that have come my way.
A "Dram Shop" is legal talk for a bar or tavern. Dram Driving Laws generally refer to legislation that punishes bars or bar owners who either serve minors alcohol and then the minors get into an accident. Some times Dram Driving Laws are applied to non-minors as well if it is believed that the bar establishment kept serving the patron alcohol after they were already intoxicated at some level.
I'm not a legal expert, but I found Wikipedia's article about Dram to be informational. Please note however that Wikipedia is never a definitive source (they let idiots like me post on their site) and that Dram Driving Laws will vary from state to state: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dram_shop
Hope that helps!Until next time Billie, may your search for Dram Driving Law answers be a fruitful one!

I Got a Speeding Ticket Last April. and the COURT DATE is June 16, but my Cal-DL will expire before June 16 - Do I need to pay the bail w/ traffic school fee or just pay the bail?
Mike in California asks:
I Got a Speeding Ticket Last April. and the COURT DATE is June 16, but my Cal-DL will expire before June 16, for some reason I cant get an Extension/Renewal for my DL.
Do I need to pay the bail w/ traffic school fee or just pay the bail?
Do the traffic school ask for VALID DL to register?
?
Hey Mikey - a tough question, here's the best answer I can give you:
You need to pay your bail amount. You must pay the traffic school administration fee if you are planning on taking traffic school. The traffic school will ask for your Driver’s License number when you register, however the traffic school does not check whether it’s valid or not.
The reason you take traffic school is so your insurance rates don’t increase, and the point is removed from your driving record. It may be helpful to take traffic school if you are planning to renew your driver’s license in the future.
Hope that Help Mikey!!
Until next time, pay your bail, pay the traffic school administration fee, renew your driver’s license, and earn your permit certificate!

I accidentally hit a vehicle that was also moving in a parking lot. Will it be my fault?
Tommy from Westbury Christian: When you're backing up the vehicle from a parking spot, i accidentally hit the vehicle who is moving. Will it be my fault? (At that time, i only backed up a small distance.)
Hello Tommy, hope you're okay and that nobody was hurt, besides possibly someone's feelings. And let me say you're not alone; parking lots are the #2 place that accidents occur (seconds only to intersections).
First let me say that I can't rightly say who was at fault since I was not there. And more importantly, it will be up to insurance agents, peach officers, and maybe a judge to decide who was truly at fault. But with that said, here's my opinion on the matter:
If you were backing out, it was probably your fault (legally) because you were backing out and the other driver, if they were proceeding straight, had the right of way.
However, most accidents have shared fault. For example, they may rule it was 80% your fault and 20% the other driver's fault. It all depends on what actually happened. For instance, maybe the other driver was speeding? Or maybe you were both backing out?
At the end of the day Tommy, don't admit fault and let your insurance agent work things out, unless your insurance agent is shady.

Traffic School Coupons
Karina Asks: I got a traffic ticket in California? Do you know any trafficschool coupons so I can get a discount?
Traffic school coupons you say? Why yes Karina, you bargain shopper you, there is such a thing as a traffic school coupon that will indeed give you a discount on your traffic school course. My recommendation is to go to
TrafficSchool.com, which is hands down the leader in Online Traffic School in CA, FL, and TX. Their course is already discounted and if you use the TrafficSchool.com coupon code
DriveSafe you can get an additional traffic school deal of 10% off.
There are other traffic schools out there online, but I'm not sure if they give discounts (I'm sure they do). You might try to find GotoTrafficSchool.com coupons or idrivesafely.com coupons or maybe even lowestpricetrafficschool.com coupons - but again, they are not necessarily the best courses, so I would just stick to TrafficSchool.com coupons to make sure you get a court approved course.
Hope that helps.
Until next time Karina, since you can't find traffic school for free - find a traffic school coupon, find a traffic school deal, or find a traffic school discount if you can,

Can I take traffic school more than once? I got another speeding ticket!
JR Asks: Hey Jonny - I got another speeding ticket yesterday. Can I still go to traffic school if I already went 2 years ago?
For the love of all things holy, slow down JR! With that said, YES, you can go to traffic school again. In fact, for most minor violations, you can attend traffic school once every
18 months (that's every 1½ years for you mathematically 'declined').
And JR, when I say you can "go to traffic school", I don't mean that you should literally go to traffic school. Take it online my friend and save yourself some gas, a lot of wasted time, and the agony of listening to someone like myself bore you to sleep with exciting traffic school facts. My two cents: TrafficSchool.com is your best bet. Then again, what do I know; I'm just a traffic safety expert...
Hope that helps.
Until next time JR, slow down, slow down, and.. wait for it... SLOW DOWN,
